LGBTQ+ Behavioral Health Equity

Over the past five years, the Center of Excellence on LGBTQ+ Behavioral Health Equity has made a lasting impact on the behavioral health field. During this time, we:
  • Delivered over 230 events, including webinars, panels, e-learnings, podcasts, and technical assistance sessions.
  • Produced well over 120 webinars and panels, both live and recorded.
  • Developed 14 self-paced e-learning modules and over 30 innovative tools (infographics, animations, glossaries, guides, websites, and toolkits) for providers and communities.
  • Engaged tens of thousands of professionals nationwide, with more 100,000+ visits to our website annually.
  • Advanced adoption of the AFFIRM program across over 26 provider agencies in multiple states, supporting LGBTQ+ youth, caregivers, and adults through evidence-based, affirming interventions.
Taken together, these efforts have strengthened the capacity of tens of thousands of providers to deliver affirming care, with the potential to impact millions of clients and families nationwide.
This impact would not have been possible without the dedication of our hundreds of consultants, researchers, advocates, and people with lived experience who shared their time and expertise. Their contributions grounded our work in evidence, both from research and lived experience.
We offer special thanks to our Center of Excellence partners, Affirmative Research and The Baker Center for Children and Families, for their unwavering leadership and collaboration.
While the Center of Excellence has concluded its grant-funded phase, our mission continues. The work toward behavioral health equity is ongoing under the National SOGIE Center. In this moment, LGBTQ+ communities continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience amid adversity. The current anti-LGBTQ+ climate reminds us of the challenges still ahead and our commitment to advancing equity remains unwavering.
We invite you to continue this journey with us by exploring training, resources, webinars, and technical assistance by visiting the National SOGIE Center, signing up for the monthly newsletter, and exploring the specific behavioral health training and resources page.

Thank you for your part in improving equitable care
